We left Marina CostaBaja this morning for Caleta Partida, a natural bay formed from a volcano caldera at Isla Espiritu Santo Marine Park. We are carrying a pound of butter for cruising friend Hellmuth on S/V Ocean Echo. We are excited to be back out in the islands.
When we arrive, we anchor close to Hellmuth, deliver the butter, makes plans for a shared meal and turn in for an early night. We are experiencing the cooling night time coromuel winds now- winds created by cool air from the Pacific ocean flowing across the low land of the Baja peninsula towards the warmer water of the Sea of Cortes. In the morning we go dinghy exploring in El Cardoncito, a small bight just north of our anchorage and loosely ‘anchor’ the dinghy to the rocks to go snorkelling. The bottom is littered with giant columns of red stone that have tumbled down from the cliffs and there are coral heads and interesting fish and sea life everywhere. Paul cleans the bottom of the dinghy while Rosie and I snorkel, keeping out of the rapid seaward flow.
4/15
We share two meals with Hellmuth (beginning and end of the day) and spend the time in between swimming, resting, reading. We will leave for Isla San Franciso soon but for now enjoy the complete peace and solitude of this tiny cove.
